The new multi-cd is ready. It includes Catasetum, Cattleya and Laelia: The genus Catasetum in Brazil Catasetum is a very interesting genus that
occurs on almost every area of Brazil, but the majority
of species are from the Amazon. Here, we discuss the
different habitats where Catasetum plants live
and picture most of the showy or recently described
species that most people never saw before. Seeing the
different habitats is good to give us some hints of
how to cultivate these plants.
The genus Laelia in Brazil
Laelia is
a genus that comprises a very large percentage of extremely
showy orchids. This lecture shows most of the different
species in their habitats and color forms of the most
showy and varied ones. Also, there are areas shown
here that don't even exist anymore due to iron ore
extraction in the mountains or cutting of the forest.
The habitat pictures are thus a reference for the future. The genus Cattleya in Brazil Cattleya includes some of the most beautiful
of all orchids, and for many they are the "real" orchids.
The genus is practically divided in unifoliate and bifoliate
cattleyas, although this is very simplistic to say the
least. Brazil has a few of the unifoliates, but is home
of most bifoliates. Here, we visit many of the different
habitats where the plants grow and also show several
of the most outstanding forms of the species
