It presents the description of subtribus as well as the distribution, pollination, chromosome numbers, seed structure and so on.During the decade of 80, researchers have added greatly to the knowledge of orchid chromosomes numbers. This information is compiled in this book, along with an author's interpretation of the evolution of chromosome numbers in the orchids. Information on pollination is also presented, and the theory of pollination through "false advertisement' (that is, enticing gullible pollinators to work for no reward) is discussed. A list of generic names and important synonyms is given, along with the approximate numbers of species in each genus. This book delimits the biggest natural groups in the Orchidaceae family.
